Thanks so much for checking back with us! If you missed our tour of the first floor CLICK HERE. We’ve been hard at work these last few weeks mainly on the rooms you’ll see here today. Thankfully, we were able, with the help of contractors, to get the upstairs bedrooms move in ready last week. So it’s been a lot of unpacking and settling in the last few days. But I can’t wait to show you the upstairs bedrooms and outdoor spaces!
The upstairs has three bedrooms and a bathroom. The bedrooms are generously sized which was important to me since this is the house my girls will grow up in. There is enough space for kids to share rooms and maintain a guest room. Here’s a peek around…
The largest of the bedrooms is what we affectionately call “The Space Room” and will be our eldest daughters room. The carpets in these bedrooms are thirty plus years old and there is wall paper everywhere! Even in the closets!!! Even though we are avid DIYer’s my husband and I quickly came to realize that if we wanted to move in relatively quickly (and still be married in the end) then we would have to hire a contractor to come in and help get these rooms ready. So thats what we did and boy are we thankful. All the glow in the dark star spots had to be sanded by hand and the wallpaper came off in shreds. Best money we ever spent!
The second of the larger rooms will be the nursery for our baby girl. With some new carpet and a nice, light neutral paint this room has a lot of potential. I’m daydreaming about a nice window seat with some storage here as well.
The smallest of the bedrooms will be our guest room. Again, new carpet and a nice, light neutral color on the walls and this room will be a cozy place for our friends and family to stay. One of the things that I love about this house is that all the doors are solid wood which gives great privacy and sound barriers for sleeping babies!
There’s a jack and jill bathroom of sorts upstairs as well. You can enter through the nursery and through the hall at the top of the stairs. Off the hallway is a stand alone vanity and then attached to that is a three piece bathroom. Its in great shape for its age so with a little paint and a few farmhouse touches this will be a cute bathroom for the girls and our guests.
So thats the upstairs. Now lets go take a look outside…
Right off the kitchen/heart room is the screened in porch. Or at least what will be a screened porch soon. This is what it looked like when we bought the house.
Behind the tropical wallpaper is framing for a screened porch and above the dropped ceiling is a beautiful tongue and groove redwood ceiling. It’s hard to imagine from this picture but believe me when I tell you that the outside space (including this one here) was one of the biggest reasons we purchased this house. Its all about the potential!
Please excuse all the stuff these pictures were taken during our inspection which also happened to be the day of the previous owners yard sale. This covered patio area is on the other side of that beautiful tropical wall you just saw above. Once its all opened we plan to put our outdoor dining table here.
This room here is in the semi-attached building on the other side of the carport. The Mister plans to renovate this into his office so he can work from home, or maybe just to have a place to escape from all of us girls.
And then there’s the back yard.
And these are our friendly neighbors. They come by just about every afternoon to say hi and my toddler loves it. She sits in the dining room window and watches them as they travel from our yard to the house across the street.
So that’s it for the before tour. Thanks for coming by to check it out. I’m excited to share with you a few of the things we’ve been working on the last few weeks and we just confirmed with our contractor that our master bathroom remodel will start at the end of the month so stay tuned!!
